Traveling with Children
Flying with two children under two sounds hard but it’s possible. My husband and I did it and we lapped both children to save money. We packed one large suitcase and kept it at 50lbs. We had an entire pack of diapers for each child in the suitcase and a two packs of wipes. I also packed an entire pack of diapers and wipes for each child in our carry-on bag. It’s extra to carry but I wanted to be prepared if we lost our suitcase or got stuck in the airport. It worked out because after we checked our bag we got put on another flight for the next day. I was so happy I had enough diapers and wipes for both girls!
In addition to the diapers and wipes we also had two outfits for each girl. I kept everything in the same color scheme so that I didn’t have to worry about matching. There were also separates so if just a shirt gets dirty the entire outfit doesn’t have to be changed. We bought Anaiah headphones so it wasn’t too loud in her ear. She can listen to music or watch a show on the flight without disturbing other passengers. They worked great! Snacks for the children are also
necessary. Airport food is very expensive and kids like to have food when they want it. We did Happy Baby apple sauce pouches and granola bars. They travel very well and pack easy. Last but not least baby carriers. We had them both in a carrier to board the plane and put them to sleep. It made transitioning much easier. It also aloud us to be hands free and keep them close.
When we arrived at the airport we checked just our big suitcase. We used our stroller to carry the children and our carry-on bags. At the gate we checked the stroller and our infant car seat for Zariah. We knew we would rent a car seat for Anaiah at the car rental. My husband and I could not sit in the same row and both have a lap child. However when we got to the gate we would always ask to switch so that we could sit in the same aisle. Sitting across from each other makes everything easier. If we need to switch children or pass items. Also, both sitting in the aisle seat is best. On one flight I had an aisle seat and my husband did not. We were in the same aisle but I had to pass things across the passenger to get them to my husband. That was annoying. The man refused to switch his since he wanted the aisle. I think he regretted his decision later.
